My name is Mary and I am a visual strategist (among many other titles). I call myself this because it best describes my passion:
to strategically utilize my visuals for social good.
Whether that's designing an app to share cooking recipes, or an app to help bird owners care for their beloved avian friends, I find fulfillment in creating unique user experiences to help people navigate everyday life. It's my strategic approach to connecting with people through graphic design.
I grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts, and discovered that I have a curiosity for science. I tried my hand at biology at Brandeis University my freshman year of undergrad, learning that it wasn't for me, and that I am more curious about computers. While I appreciate natural science at its ethical core, I wanted to get my hands on technology.. but in a creative way. I found my home in the graphic design department at Boston University, where I was able to explore all kinds of digital (and traditional) methods of expression. I was even able to continue my appreciation for natural science in my thesis, The Bottom of My Garden.
Since my graduation from Boston University in May of 2023, I have been exploring my passion for user experience and product design by doing freelance projects, earning my professional UX certification through Google, and working full time as a UI/UX Designer in AI technology. I have also had the absolute pleasure of sharing my love for interactive design as an adjunct professor at Lesley University's College of Art and Design in Cambridge, MA.
These days, I am eager to get involved in new graphic design opportunities, so I encourage you to connect with me if you are interested in getting to know me better! Feel free to explore my portfolio here or my art Instagram page to get a glimpse of what I do best.
