This project was mostly done to help me brainstorm about how I wanted to weave ideas of sustainability and good environmentally conscious habits into peoples' daily lives. I realized that the greater message of “do something about global warming now” is a very large statement to ask an individual, and I found that I captured the fear of that question in these posters. How much change can one individual make? Is my impact making any impact at all? I was then able to build from there to fi nd the feeling on the opposite end of this spectrum. I wanted the idea of making a difference feel more local and manageable.
The designs and concepts for these posters were inspired by the Work Project Administration (WPA) posters and also the Visions of the Future collection done by The Studio at NASA JPL. Similarly to Disney's Tomorrowland posters, Visions of the Future posters help viewers picture what it may look or feel like to potentially visit these places in the future. Concept designs like those posters helped me figure out where my passions lie in terms of generating communicative graphic design.
